Welcome, Craggies! Yes, that’s you, and yes, it’s sticking.
We’ve decided that Craggies is the preferred nomenclature for people who follow Candacraig. Taylor Swift has Swifties, Justin Bieber has Beliebers, and we have our Craggies!
Things have started to move on apace here at Candacraig Towers, so we thought it was high time we shared what’s been going on.
First things first: our Patreon page is up and running. Every week we’ll be adding exclusive content and by exclusive, we mean it.
Interviews, behind-the-scenes clips, and first listens to new material before it goes anywhere else. Maybe It’s Tomorrow, the second original track from our upcoming EP, will be premiered there on 20th July.

The New EP
Our new EP is practically finished, it’s just waiting for the drums to land, and then we’re ready to go.
Some of you will already know that Summerfolk was runner-up in Prog Magazine’s Track of the Week, which was a brilliant moment for us. Alongside that and Maybe It’s Tomorrow, the EP features our own interpretations of two tracks from 1969 and 1974, but we’ll keep those a surprise for now.
We’re optimistic about releasing in August, and it’ll be available as a digital download on Bandcamp for £8. Every purchase directly funds production of a batch of physical CDs, so if you want to hold one in your hands, buying the download is how we get there, hopefully in time for our next gig at The 1865 with The Emerald Dawn.
Jack Frost’s Wedding Day
Now for the one we’re seriously excited about.
The next album, Jack Frost’s Wedding Day, is well into production, and we’ll say it plainly: the first song is the best thing we’ve ever written. The rest of what we’ve got so far isn’t far behind, and it all bodes well for the ones still to come.
This will be a concept album, based on a one-woman play Sharon wrote back in the late nineties. At its heart is a married woman who feels constantly imprisoned within the situations she creates for herself around her family, childhood friends, a job, her marriage. Her escape? She escapes by jumping onto trains and allowing them to take her anywhere without any plans for her destination.
Anyone who attended our Rectory gig for Rod Moor Bardell, or caught our Saturday set at Soundle this year, will have had a first taste of Train To The Horizon and Long Way Home, the opening tracks to the album, which both got their live debut. We’ll see about sharing some of that footage.
The plan is to finish writing by the end of the summer and work towards a release in 2027, maybe even with an album launch.
The Search for a Drummer
In order to do all that, we need a drummer and our search for one may be coming to an end. Fingers crossed, we’ll have a tub thumper by our next newsletter.

- 27th September — The 1865, Southampton
- 22nd October — The Cluny, Newcastle
- 23rd October — The Forum, Darlington
The 1865 is a venue close to our hearts, The Cluny will be our first time playing Newcastle, and Darlington rounds off what should be a brilliant run. Come and say hello.
